Lead Cake Decorator Wanted: Elevate Events with Your Edible Artistry at Top BakeryAM Shift
Summary of Position:
Create and embellish wedding and specialty cakes. Assist guests during tastings to bring their cake ideas to life. Work closely with chefs to organize logistics, source ingredients, and ensure smooth execution of all cake orders. Offer suggestions and innovative concepts about current techniques and trends within the industry. Team up with colleagues and provide fundamental cake decorating skills.
Essential Functions:
- Meet with clients for tastings and assist couples in designing their wedding cakes.
- Coordinate with chefs and the baking team on all facets of cake construction projects, including scheduling, ordering, baking, and assembly.
- Efficiently manage cake timelines alongside daily bakery responsibilities.
- Develop creative strategies to minimize food waste from cake projects.
Keep your workstation clean and organized, following all county regulations.
- Train staff in cake masking and decoration.
- Manage cake production schedules, coordinating timelines, staffing, and supplies with chefs at least one week ahead.
- Verify food preparation meets pastry chef standards by checking production lists against BEOs.
- Assist event prep during unscheduled cake periods.
- Keep improving skills and work with bakeshop team.
- Store and rotate food with proper labeling per Health Department rules.
- Coordinate with team to freeze or repurpose unused items.
Qualifications:
Education: An equivalent combination of education, training, or experience that imparts the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to fulfill essential job functions is acceptable. A high school diploma is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience in pastry or baking within operations of similar scope, including supervisory responsibilities, is required. Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of baking and pastry fundamentals, sanitation standards, and proficient operation of all kitchen equipment.
Certificates or Licenses: Maricopa County Food Service Worker card
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The ability to work in confined places and at extreme temperatures.
- Ability to stand, reach and stoop in order to perform the essential functions.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to use all kitchen equipment (i.e., knives, spoons, spatulas, tongs and slicers).
- Basic mathematical skills sufficient to understand recipes, measurements, requisition amounts and portion sizes
- Possess the ability to comprehend and communicate effectively in English both written and orally.

- Organized: Maintain a neat, organized workspace, maintaining important documents pertinent to job
- Communicates effectively: Speaks and listens in a clear, thorough, and timely manner, effectively reading and writing, using the English language.
- Professional Appearance: Exhibits an appearance appropriate for a four-diamond resort (Specific grooming standards are available for review)
