Summary of Position:

The Senior People & Culture Manager provides comprehensive Human Resources support to drive the culture and people operations of our historic and iconic property, while nurturing a positive, productive and collaborative workplace under the guidance of the Director of People & Culture. This role acts as a trusted and knowledgeable partner to associates across all levels, including line level and leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages the recruitment, onboarding and processing of new hires.
  • Facilitates New Hire Orientation and coordinates and tracks PCI/Safety compliance training.
  • Serves as point of contact for associate questions related to employment, workplace concerns and suggestions, and payroll.
  • Facilitates People & Culture related programs including Trip Reduction, Recognition, and Safety.
  • Supports conflict resolution and associate feedback processes with guidance/direction from Director of People & Culture.
  • Monitors workplace safety protocols and manages Worker’s Compensation claims reporting and facilitates FMLA/Personal Leaves of Absences, when necessary.
  • Maintains HRIS system, associate files, certifications, and I-9’s.
  • Engages eligible participants in health and wellness benefits and supports and promotes other company benefits.
  • Ensures associate benefit elections are updated across systems and preforms monthly benefits billing and reconciliation process.
  • Serves as a coach to leaders on associate documentation and corrective action procedures, regulatory compliance, and any additional People & Culture related inquiries.
  • Supports leaders during documentation of associate corrective actions, when necessary (verbal/written/final warnings).
  • Supports a positive culture through communication with associates and associate recognition programs.
  • Generates monthly and ad hoc reports using HR software, including benefits reports, pay reports, turnover reports, etc.
  • Completes employment verifications, unemployment claims, and wage garnishments.
  • Maintains confidentiality and privacy for all associates while maintaining a professional relationship with leaders and associates.
  • Processes terminations and conducts exit interviews.
  • Processes and maintains associate data using HRIS system (ADP) and other HR software.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of People & Culture, Corporate Director of People & Culture and/or VP of People & Culture.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience: Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in a Human Resources generalist or manager role, preferably in a hospitality or service environment

Certificates or Licenses: PHR or SHRM-CP preferred (not required)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of HR fundamentals, including recruiting, associate relations, and compliance
  • Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience utilizing an HR software (HRIS/ATS), such as ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, UKG, etc.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain a well-organized workspace
  • Proficient in Spanish language communication a plus
  • Experience conducting trainings or leading meetings in small or large group settings

  • Exhibits a professional appearance appropriate for a four-diamond resort (specific grooming standards are available for review)

The Scott is a vibrant, Mission style boutique resort in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. Bringing together the colors and comforts of old Havana, and the elegant geometry of The Bauhaus, the hotel offers a lush oasis retreat to the middle of the Sonoran Desert with 204 guest rooms and suites and two pools – a sand-bottom swimming pool perfect for families, the main lagoon pool with private cabanas and a pool bar. The Scott features the signature restaurant and bar, The Canal Club, specializing in modern Caribbean-American cuisine and offering a studious wine list and cinema-inspired craft cocktails. The full-service spa, La Vidorra, features six luxurious treatment rooms, providing a range of massage and facial treatments. The Scott has more than 14,500 square feet of indoor meeting space, in addition to ample outdoor event space.
