Position Overview:
The Banquet Captain at La Playa Hotel plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of all banquet events, from weddings to corporate meetings, while maintaining the hotel's reputation for excellence in service. This position oversees the setup, execution, and breakdown of events, ensuring a seamless and memorable guest experience. The Banquet Captain leads the banquet team, upholding the highest standards of hospitality, efficiency, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Event Coordination and Execution:

   • Lead the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events in accordance with event orders and client specifications.
   • Collaborate with the Sales and Events team to ensure all event details are executed to perfection.
   • Act as the primary on-site contact for clients during events, addressing any issues or adjustments as needed.

2. Team Leadership:

   • Supervise, train, and motivate banquet staff, ensuring a high level of performance and professionalism.
   • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members to meet event timelines and standards.
   • Foster a collaborative team environment, ensuring clear communication and support among staff.

3. Guest Experience:

   • Anticipate and respond to guest needs, ensuring exceptional service throughout events.
   • Handle guest feedback and concerns with professionalism, seeking solutions promptly.
   • Maintain a polished, approachable presence during events to enhance guest confidence.

4. Operational Excellence:

   • Ensure proper use and care of banquet equipment and supplies.
   • Monitor inventory and report any shortages or maintenance needs to management.
   • Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a clean and safe environment for staff and guests.

5. Administrative Duties:

   • Review and interpret banquet event orders (BEOs) to ensure accurate execution.
   • Provide post-event feedback to management to improve operations and service delivery.
   • Assist in scheduling banquet staff to align with business needs and budget constraints.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in banquet operations, preferably in a supervisory or captain role.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and remain calm under pressure.
• Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and practices.
• Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
