Summary of Position:

The General Manager will oversee and have a hands-on role in the operation  and administration of High Country Motor Lodge, maintaining an environment of genuine hospitality and an exceptional guest and associate experience. This includes but is not limited to cleanliness (Housekeeping & Maintenance), guest service (Front Desk), F&B (General Store / Lobby Bar), amenities (Nordic Spa Experience), programming (entertainment and special events) and general orderliness of lodge and staff presentation. The GM will support HCML Leaders, manage and partner in the administrative, People & Culture and Finance responsibilities, including but not limited to interviewing, onboarding, hiring, training, interdepartmental communication, a variety of accounting related tasks, financials, and overseeing managers in general, ensuring that they are in turn managing their respective departments effectively, consistently and efficiently.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the overall operations as described above, including Housekeeping, F&B programming, working with corporate leaders and ownership, and most importantly, an exceptional focus on the guest and associate experience.
  • Consistently holds all staff accountable to the same expectation of excellence and accomplishes this goal while building up team members and the team overall. 
  • Financial Responsibilities: Executing the annual budget for the hotel, review monthly P&L reports, monitor labor costs to budget and payroll.
  • Accounting: Keeping departments in line with the budget and following proper accounting and inventory methods. Identifying areas for savings within the budget.
  • Hiring, training, scheduling and developing associates and management; work closely with Marc & Rose Hospitality corporate support, as well as ownership.
  • Work with remote sales team to ensure optimal experience for all groups, corporate and conference services
  • Quality control: daily inspections of both hotels and all departments including Room Inspections, Preventive Maintenance Walks, Stand Ups/Daily's and Shift Changes
  • Lead Guest Services department goal planning, continuous improvement projects, and recurring training efforts
  • Empower team and self to handle difficult guest situations and guest challenges to ensure satisfactory results for all concerned
  • Review and approve Payroll.
  • Work closely with all leaders; partner with People & Culture to drive workplace recognition, training, compliance, safety and professional opportunities for associates.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Vice President, Corporate Director of Finance and other corporate leaders in support of HCML.

Qualifications:

Education: College degree preferred

Experience: Prior hotel management experience required; Room, Housekeeping and Guest Services highly preferred, as well as F&B.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to navigate the oversee the entire operation; train and mentor with strong leadership skills, creating a positive working environment.
  • Ability to make quick and efficient decisions to benefit the associates, guest, and ownership.
  • Ability to memorize and perform Marc & Rose culture; perform and lead observations constructively and with accountability.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management.
  • Knowledge of Property Management systems.
  • Knowledge of Management Reporting tools.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time exempt position. Actual hours may vary dependent on business needs but will generally fall between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm. Attendance as scheduled is a critical element in all positions at High Country Motor Lodge. Availability for weekends and holidays is essential.
